The Wadeye Press was established at Port Keats in 1978 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School. The Port Keats Council (Kardu Numida) gave permission in 1975 to introduce the teaching of the Murin-Patha language together with English.
Three Aboriginal full-time literacy workers and one supervisor now work in the Literature Production Centre.
We produce letterhead for the community and books for the school in Murin-Patha. This year we will also produce books in Marti-Ke.
